My Story
How I got sober
BeforeWhen the lines disappeared
For a long time, my life looked fine from the outside. From the inside, it was quiet chaos — mornings I don't remember, promises I broke without meaning to, and a version of me I stopped recognizing in the mirror.
That's the thing about addiction: it doesn't announce itself. It edits you, line by line, until you can't read your own story anymore.
The TurnReading my own life again
Getting sober wasn't one dramatic moment. It was a thousand small honest ones. Admitting I needed help. Letting people see me at my worst. Sitting through a night without numbing it.
Every day I stayed clean, a line came back. My handwriting. My laugh. My name.
NowWhy I tell it raw
I don't tell this story to shame anyone — not the person I was, and not the person you might be right now. I tell it because somewhere out there, someone is halfway through editing themselves out of their own life.
If my story helps you read between your own lines, then every hard day was worth it.
"Recovery didn't give me a new life. It gave me back the one I almost threw away."
This is the first draft of my story — the full version, in my own words, is coming to this page.
